Radio Plays Are The Past…& The Future?
I love radio plays, so I agree with Dan Pink on this:
Here’s a prediction: The next frontier in audio won’t be more podcasts. It’ll be theater without a stage.
They’re more engaging than a single narrator audiobook but still have all the screen free benefits.
Of course, there are plenty of podcasts that fill this same role. So it’s more about content than delivery medium.
A few starting points if you’re curious:
- Neil Gaiman’s Neverwhere
- The Dark is Rising (yup, more BBC)
- Arthur Miller’s The Crucible
- Dungeon Crawler Carl audiobooks (recommended for so many reasons)
Or try podcasts like Alice Isn’t Dead, something from Qcode, everything by Pacific Northwest Stories, Desperado, something by Realm (like the new Sonic Chaotix), Playing On Air
