Where’s Your Audience?

Thinking about money. According to a Wall Street Journal poll, money is now the most important value amongst Americans. So forget family, community, religion, and patriotism in your messaging, just speak to the wallet. It looks like the pandemic really did a number of some of these other values.

TikTok

They say all publicity is good publicity, right? Looks like TikTok is proving that saying correct. Despite the nature of the headlines it’s making, The Clock App is now the most downloaded.

ByteDance is prepping for a potential ban by pushing a second app into the top 10: Lemon8. Bold strategy since congresscritters’ problem isn’t with TikTok but with its Chinese ownership. This could be like lighting money on fire depending on how the chips fall.

Then there’s this: Sen. Rand Paul says the GOP would 'permanently lose elections for a generation' if TikTok is banned

Meta Moves

Meta wants a slice of that retail media pie. It’s testing two new ad tools: Manager Partner Ads and Local Inventory ads. The former is for retail media network + first-party data + CPG synergy. More DM slidin’. Insta is expanding its new collections concept with collaborative collections, message a post to a group to start a conversation. You know, like LinkedIn just announced.

And click-to-message ad CTAs are coming to Facebook Reels placements. Historically, jumping on whatever Big Blue is pushing can be rewarded with boosted performance. If you have the thumb power to handle DMs, it’s worth a shot.

YouTube Is For Audio

YouTube is continuing to go big on audio-related offerings. The newest? Targeting Gen Z users via trending audio lineups.
